How to get a QR code

This guide explains how to purchase a QR code plan and create QR codes from your company dashboard. QR plans are separate from barcode (GTIN) plans — you do not need a DST prefix or GTIN range for QR codes.

Barcode vs QR — know the difference

• Barcode / GTIN plans — for product identification (EAN/UPC, etc.), prefix request, and GTIN generation. See How to get a barcode.
• QR plans — for creating scannable QR codes (URLs, vCard, Wi‑Fi, product pages, etc.) with design options. No prefix or GTIN allocation required.

You may hold both types of subscription on the same company account.

Before you start

• A registered DST company account with verified email.
• Payment via Flutterwave or manual bank transfer.
• Content ready for your QR codes (URLs, text, or structured data per QR type).

Step 1 — Create your company account

Register at Create your DST account with company name, phone, contact name, email, and password. If you already have an account, sign in instead.

Step 2 — Verify your email

Confirm your email using the link sent after registration. QR checkout requires a verified account, same as barcode plans.

Step 3 — Choose a QR plan

In the company portal sidebar, open QR plans (https://www.dstbarcode.com/company/qr-subscriptions).

• Compare plans on the portal or view public pricing at QR code prices.
• Each plan defines how many QR codes you get per unit purchased.

Step 4 — Checkout and pay

On the QR checkout page:

1. Set plan units (how many bundles you are buying — each unit multiplies the plan’s QR allowance).
2. Review the summary: total QR codes and amount in NGN.
3. Pay with Flutterwave for instant activation, or choose Manual bank transfer.

Complete payment on Flutterwave; on success you return to DST and are redirected to the QR codes workspace.

Manual bank transfer

Transfer the exact amount, upload proof of payment, and wait for DST admin approval. Once approved, your QR subscription activates.

Step 5 — Create QR codes

Go to QR codes in the sidebar (https://www.dstbarcode.com/company/qr-codes).

• Click to create new QR codes (https://www.dstbarcode.com/company/qr-codes/create).
• Choose QR type and fill in the required fields (URL, contact details, etc., depending on type).
• Pick a design (batch or per-code styling where supported).
• Preview the design before saving if the preview option is available.
• Submit to generate codes within your plan’s remaining QR quota.

Download outputs as SVG, PDF, or ZIP from the QR list or batch actions. Scannable public links use URLs such as https://www.dstbarcode.com/q/{hash} for end users scanning your codes.

Step 6 — Manage and monitor usage

• View all codes under QR codes in the portal.
• Track remaining allowance against your active QR subscription.
• Use Billing & Invoices for payment history (available when you have QR or barcode billing access).

Troubleshooting

• QR menu locked — purchase and activate a QR subscription first.
• Cannot create more codes — you have used your plan’s QR quota; buy additional units or a larger plan.
• Manual payment pending — wait for admin approval or contact support.
